26/04/10 TSS increases productivity and efficiency with mobile technology
After extensive product testing, TSS Facilities recently issued all its heating engineers with the latest HTC HD mobile devices.
Historically, TSS’ heating engineers needed to wait until returning to the office with signed paperwork before any post-service items could be actioned. Now, their engineers receive electronic sign offs on their mobile devices from clients immediately after each service. Any spare parts necessary to complete the job are indicated by the engineer and all this information is automatically relayed back to the office. The office administrators are then quickly able to obtain and provide quotes to the customer for the new parts, offering the client a faster, more efficient end to end service and saving valuable employee time.
Additionally, the HTC phones incorporate 5 megapixel cameras which the engineers can use to take snapshots of unidentifiable boiler parts. These photos are automatically uploaded to the client’s job file back at the office where they can be easily emailed to suppliers for identification and ordering.
The engineers’ mobile phones interact seamlessly with the Planned Preventative Maintenance system (PPM) operated in house by TSS and ensure that future maintenance services are automatically diarised after a scheduled service has been carried out. The PPM system is also able to email customers who have made emergency call outs, to let them know when an engineer is on their way.
